(President Donald Trump and U.S. Ambassador to China, Terry Branstad)
President Donald Trump said during a stop at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa he wanted to congratulate Iowa's former Governor, the new U.S. Ambassador to China, Terry Branstad.
"It really dawned on me when I was thinking about ambassadors, I said, wouldn't it be great if I picked a man who really likes China, and by the way China really likes him," said President Trump.
President Trump addressed Branstad and said, "Mr. Ambassador thank you very much and have a good time in China."
Mr. Trump's stop at Kirkwood Community College had an agriculture theme. U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue also attended the event.
The event was followed by a rally at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.
