UPDATE Polk Deputy says retaliation lawsuits going forward

Dan Charleston replies to questions from WHO Radio News on Facebook about his firing and pending lawsuits

A Polk County Sheriff's Deputy says when he was fired Friday the Sheriff had him clean out his office and sent him home.

Dan Charleston answers questions from WHO Radio News on Facebook this weekend.  He writes that two Federal civil political retaliation lawsuits are still ongoing.

The Sheriff's Department has not responded to our request for comment.

Charleston ran for election for the Sheriff's job twice, unsuccessfully.  He was recently under internal investigation for Facebook posts about Islam in early June.  One post called the religion an "evil ideology."
