Don't bother heading to the Iowa State Penitentiary to visit your family or friends anytime soon.
Visitors are NOT being allowed after two incidents this past week.
Officials say there was an "incident involving multiple offenders" in the prison yard at the Fort Madison facility this Saturday. They're not saying much more, but, that staff quickly regained control and there were only minor injuries to offenders and no weapons were involved.
And, that follows an earlier assault on a prison worker a few days before. John Doyle Watson is facing charges after attacking a staff member last Wednesday. Another prisoner came to that worker's aid before being joined in by other staff.The worker was taken to the hospital and treated and released.
