Fireworks were going off all around the east side around 9:20pm last night as Des Moines firefighters were called to a report of a fire at the Gilbreath Upholstery Warehouse at 2507 E. 21st Tuesday night.
It was reported that fireworks had broken through the window and were smoldering inside.
Turns out, it was someone who didn't have fireworks, but thought he was using the next best thing.
A witness says that a man shot of a flare gun, which landed inside the building. Firefighters on scene told WHO Radio News they were able to find the "incendiary device" and extinguish it fairly quickly.
Meanwhile, the residences that surrounded the business were watching all the fireworks in the air at the time as much as the firefighters. No injuries were reported and damage was believed to be minimal.
