Des Moines Police are investigating a shooting that took place late Monday night.
It happened at 1301 Grand Avenue, a building that houses five storefronts and several upstairs apartments.
Police were called on the report that a woman had been shot in the chest. She was taken to an area hospital. The initial reports are that a Polk County Sheriff's deputy had a suspect in custody, but Des Moines police are not confirming that at this time.
A resident of one of the upstairs apartments tells WHO Radio News that a Hispanic couple had been allowed to live in the basement of the "Fountain of Beauty Hair Salon" in the building in Suite D.
Initial reports were that the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute, but no other information was available.
