West Des Moines bomb-threat suspect found hiding in dumpster

A man is in custody, after police say he made bomb threats against Valley West Mall, Gold's Gym and a Walgreens store in West Des Moines.

It started with a 911 call about 7:30 Tuesday night, police say the man claimed he was barricaded inside the mall.  Turns out, he wasn't.

"We went ahead and had his phone pinged.  Turns out he wasn't at the mall, he was near Gold's Gym."  Sergeant Tony Giampolo with the West Des Moines police tells WHO Channel 13.

"Then he started talking about being at a Walgreens, so our officers went to the Walgreens on 22nd, and located the subject."

They found him hiding out in a dumpster.   Giampolo says no explosives were found.

According to Polk County Jail records, 26-year old Quinten Duran Nelson of Des Moines faces numerous charges, including Threat of Terrorism, Harassment, Interference with Official Acts, False Report of Explosives, and Threat of Explosive Device.
