A black bear was spotted in a Mahaska County soybean field this week.
The Sheriff's Office says they could not find the animal, but they did find some hair they think belongs to a black bear. The hair is being tested.
The sighting was northwest of Oskaloosa, near Highway 163.
It's the latest in a string of bear reports, in recent weeks and months, including reports in Tama and Iowa Counties.
Experts with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources say say they don't think the bear is any sort of threat, but they do ask people not to approach it or try to feed it, and keep pets and kids indoors if one is spotted.
