Officials at the Des Moines Botanical Center were hoping for a smelly "birth" overnight Monday night-Tuesday morning.
The "titan arum" or corpse plant was expected to bloom overnight, giving Des Moines visitors a chance to smell the unique aroma of the plant (the smell of a rotting corpse).
