Members of a corn detassling crew in Story County were exposed to farm chemicals this (Friday) morning as they worked in a field southwest of Collins.

Tom Ness of the Maxwell Fire Department tells WHO-Radio News says a pilot was spraying fungicide and insecticide on a soybean field, at the same time, approximately 20 young adults were detassling in an adjacent corn field, and were exposed to the chemicals.

Emergency crews were called, the workers were checked out and decontaminated, and treated and released.

The incident happened a half mile west of the intersection of 690th Avenue and 330th Street, southwest of Collins, around 7:45 this morning.
