University Iowa dedicates new residence hall

The University of Iowa is dedicating a new residence hall today (Friday).

Catlett Hall is 12 stories, and will house 1,049 students when it opens this fall.

It will be the University's largest residence hall.

It's named after Elizabeth Catlett, a renowned sculptor and print maker.   She was one of three University of Iowa students, to earn the first Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degrees in the United States in 1940.

Catlett was the first African-American woman to receive the degree.
