Clive man arrested for Greenbelt Trail attack

Clive police say they've arrested a man in connection with the August 1st attack on a woman at Clive's Greenbelt Trail.

Charged with willful injury and other charges is 20 year old Robert Goodenough of Clive.  

Witnesses told police they saw media reports about the attack and belived that Goodenough was involved. During interviews with Clive detectives, police say Goodenough made statements implicating him in the assault of the woman.

Goodenough is in the Polk County Jail and is being held without bond.

Late this afternoon, Clive Police arrested Robert Kristopher Goodenough, age 20 of 9108 Franklin Avenue Clive, IA in relation to this case.

Person(s) acquainted with the suspect saw media and/or social media accounts of this attack that occurred on August 1 on the Clive Greenbelt Trail. They believed he might have been involved and brought him to the attention of Clive police. Mr. Goodenough was interviewed by Clive detectives and made statements that implicated him in the assault of the female victim. Detectives were also able to recover physical evidence from Mr. Goodenough’s residence that tied him to this attack.

He was charged with Willful Injury, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Obstruction of Emergency Communications. He was booked at the Clive Police Department, then transported to the Polk County Jail where he is being held without bond.
