Iowa Copper Cups: Lethal Instruments Of Death?

2016 New York Taste Presented By Citi Hosted By New York Magazine

Little did I know when I chatted about this story earlier in the week, that the topic would go viral.

To sum up:

The Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division is reminding bars and restaurants they cannot serve beverages in solid copper cups.

High concentrations of copper are poisonous and have caused foodborne illness when coming into direct contact with food and beverages.

So when you enjoy that Moscow Mule at your local watering hole, you are likely drinking from a cup lined with nickel or stainless steel.

Common-sense safety rule or evidence of an ever-encroaching nanny state?  You have opinions, people!
