Be wary if someone offers you a really great deal on a brand new smart phone this weekend. Des Moines Police are trying to find dozens of cell phones that were stolen in an armed holdup at Cellular Advantage on Army Post Road Thursday.
"The clerk was robbed at gunpoint and forced to get on the ground." Des Moines Police Sergeant Paul Parizek tells WHO Radio News. "They stole some cash and almost 35 phones. We recovered a significant amount of cash, but we're still looking for those cell phones."
Parizek says tips from the public led to the getaway car, and that led to the two suspects.
"We had some calls, people thought they'd seen something suspicious. That led us to car." Parizek says.
On Thursday afternoon, police found the white Cadillac left parked in a business lot.
"Once you get a big piece, like your getaway car, it's pretty quick, we're going to find you." He says. "These folks weren't rocket scientists by any means, they're doing a robbery in broad daylight. We're going to find you."
Parizek says Police are concerned that unsuspecting people will buy the stolen phones.
"We do want to recover these phones. Sergeant Parizek tells WHO Radio News. "We're worried that these phones will be purchased by people thinking they're legitimate phones, only to find out they're not worth a dime.
