The Des Moines mother whose prison sentence in the death of her baby daughter was suspended Thursday, was taken to jail before she ever left the courthouse.
27-year-old Laci Taylor was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison, with a suspended sentence, as long as she complied with terms of her probation.
But, Lt. Rich Blaylock with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office tells WHO Radio News that shortly after the sentencing, Taylor was ordered to to jail, to be held for re-sentencing on August 14. WHO TV Reports Taylor failed a breathalyzer test after the sentencing.
Taylor pleaded guilty in June to felony neglect of a dependent person. She admits she left her daughter alone on a changing table while she fixed a bottle and had a cigarette. The baby rolled over and suffocated.
