The dry conditions this summer are prompting some water conservation tips.
Des Moines Waterworks Spokesperson Laura Sarcone says the Des Moines River and Raccoon River levels are lower, but there's still plenty of capacity.
She does, however, recommend if customers are watering lawns and gardens, they might do so every other day.
Sarcone also says if customers are washing cars at home, leftover water could be used on the dry lawn.
Sarcone says water use has been average, about 70- (M) millions gallons per day. The all-time record for the local utility is 96-(M) million gallons, set in the summer of 2012, which was a drought year.
