Iowans arrested using phony money at casino

Three people from LeMars, Iowa are charged with forgery and theft, after a counterfeiting investigation in Woodbury County.

Twenty-nine year old Brittany Derby and 27 year old Jackelen Hartsock were arrested August 9th.  Twenty six year old Kurt Jones was arrested August 11th.  

Authorities say the three were seen making or attempting to make purchases or cash-change outs at the Hard Rock Casino in Sioux City August 5th, 2017. 

Authorities say the bills they used, were counterfeit.

The investigation was conducted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation with assistance from the LeMars Police Department, Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, and Sioux City Police Department.

The investigation is still on-going.
