A Prairie City, Iowa man's been sentenced to 15 years in prison, after pleading guilty in January of this year to drug and firearms charges.
Forty-Six year old Derek Duane Mullennax pleaded guilty to distribution of meth and discharging a firearm while fleeing from law enforcement officers in February 2016.
When officers tried to arrest Mullennax, he drove away, leading officers on a chase through Pleasant Hill and Colfax.
Police say he fired a Taurus 9mm pistol out of the roof of his vehicle, at a State Trooper during the chase.
United States District Court Judge Stephanie M. Rose sentenced Mullennax to 60 months in prison for distribution of methamphetamine and 120 months in prison for discharging a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
