Up to 4″ of rain fell in parts of the state early this morning.
WHO Channel 13 Meteorologist Jeriann Ritter says heavy rainfall will continue to move slowly across the state through the mid morning with some breaks in the cloud cover expected this afternoon.

If you plan on viewing the eclipse, it looks like there may be some areas that see just enough sunshine to view parts of the solar eclipse, though others will be completely clouded over.

STORMS TONIGHT
More storms are expected tonight and heavy rain is likely with that as well. A slight risk covers the entire state of Iowa, meaning scattered strong to severe storms will be possible. These storms will be finished by Tuesday morning.
