Des Moines River bed snags truck, driver cited

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources recently posted on its Facebook page, this picture of a stuck truck along the Des Moines River in Boone County.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is reminding drivers, that even though some of the river and stream levels are low, it is illegal in most cases to drive a motor vehicle on a stream bed, because it damages habitat and water quality.

The DNR says the only exception is for making ford crossings for agricultural purposes.

The DNR says this driver got a court summons and had to pay to have the vehicle towed.
