Drought improves slightly in Iowa

The weekly U.S. Drought Monitor shows slightly improved conditions in Iowa, compared to last week.

Western Iowa recorded heavy rainfall, resulting in a shift away from drought conditions in several counties in that part of the state.

Central Iowa, including Polk County remains in moderate drought.

There was slight improvement in southern Iowa, although all of Clarke County and western Lucas County remain in extreme  drought.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected this weekend in Iowa.
