Police chase and crash in Cedar Rapids front yard

Cedar Rapids Police officers chased a car, but stopped after they say the suspect began weaving through traffic and posing a danger.

The chase began at 15th Street NE and E Avenue NE at 11:00 a.m. Friday.

Officers continued in the direction that the green Pontiac Grand Am  headed and found it crashed into a pole at 23rd Street NE and E Avenue NE at 11:02 a.m. and landed in a front yard.

KCRG TV 9 reports that Cedar Rapids police say the suspect has serious injuries and is being life-flighted to UIHC.

Police have not said why they were chasing the driver.
