State Trooper rescues girl pinned under car

An Iowa state trooper helped save an 11 year old girl hit by a car Thursday.

Trooper Alex Dinkla was driving by around 3:23pm Thursday afternoon when the girl was hit while riding her bicycle in Winterset.  Dinkla says he'd just gotten off work and saw the crash.

He said he saw the girl screaming, pulled his vehicle over and helped pull her out from under the front of the vehicle. Dinkla says the girl's leg was pinned between the bike and the car.

Dinkla says the girl was wearing a helmet, which was crushed...meaning the helmet did its job.

The girl was treated and released for minor injuries at the Madison County Hospital.
