What's up in Des Moines this weekend? Dan Gable interview & More

Terry Hernandez of the Chrysalis Foundation joined us in the studio this morning to talk about their 2017 Chrysalis Inspired Event on Thursday, September 21st from 11:30AM-1PM at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center Vet's Auditorium.  Their featured speaker will be Bonnie St. John who despite having her leg amputated at age 5, went on to become the first African-American ever to win a medal in the Winter Olympics!  To get tickets, go to www.chrysalisfnd.org or call 515-255-1853.

Kate Ross joined us in the studio this morning just after the 7:30 news to talk about the huge Beaverdale Festival that starts tonight and runs thru midnight tomorrow.  Starting at 6PM you will be able to see all sorts of beautiful cars in their car show on the south end of Beaver.  Starting tomorrow, there will be a dog parade at 9AM with 80 entries...followed by their regular parade with 125 entries that includes 16 floats.  There will be a carnival going all day and a Kids Zone from 2-5PM with free games, big wheel races and more.  There will be 20 bands playing this evening, tomorrow during the day and evening thru midnight.  You can get more information at www.fallfestival.org.  You can also hear the entire interview below...

Dan Gable joined us by phone just after the 8:30 news.  He actually interrupted a speech he was giving this morning to do the interview and then went back to finish his speech!  Dan has a book signing for his new book "A Wrestling Life 2" on September 19th from 6:30 to 7:30 at the Clive Aquatic Center (across from the Clive Public Library.  You can hear the interview with Dan below...

There are a lot of fun things to do in Des Moines this weekend including the World Food & Music Festival, the Beaverdale Festival, the Sherman Hills Tour of Homes, RV Show in the Varied Industries Bldg. at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, the Auto Parts Swap Meet at the Fairgrounds and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels & The Pork Tornadoes at the Simon Estes Theater!
