Mom and son arrested: forced Clive man to "LetGo" of his money at gunpoint

A Clive man went to a Des Moines house on Mondamin and was forced at gunpoint to "LetGo" of his money.

41 year old Sandrauel Tidwell was arrested yesterday.  Her son, 17-year-old James Henderson was arrested at the Motel 6 on Fleur Thursday.

Des Moines Police say September 1st Ryan Jacobs of Clive was forced at gunpoint to drive to three stores and take money out of an ATM, buy shoes and buy booze.

Jacobs was responding to a "LetGo" app ad that said a BMW was for sale.  When he arrived at the home, Des Moines police say Henderson put a gun to his head and other men forced him to drive to the HyVee store on ML King and take out money, then drive to Merle Hay Mall and buy shoes. He then was taken to the Stop N Save on ML King where he was forced to buy them liquor.

Jacobs was released at 24th and Clark, but not before verbally tussling with the men, who told him they were taking his vehicle.

Des Moines Police Sgt. Paul Parizek says it's lucky that Jacobs wasn't killed.  Parizek says it's a "textbook case" of why transactions like this should be done in a public place.

Police are still searching for the other men involved.
