Iowans sue to make state pay for transgender surgeries

Two Iowa women are suing the Iowa Department of Human Services to force the state Medicaid program to pay for trangender surgeries.

Carol Ann Beal says she's lived as a woman since she was 14.  She's undergone hormone therapy but says the Iowa Medicaid program has rules that prevent the state from paying for gender reassignment surgery.

EeriaAnna Good of the Quad Cities is another trangender woman who says the state DHS is blocking her from receiving reassignment surgery.

They're both suing the state with help from the ACLU of Iowa and the group OneIowa.
