(Des Moines, Iowa) American Airlines is starting a twice-daily flight from Des Moines to Philadelphia next spring.
Des Moines Airport Director Kevin Foley says American has proposed the route for several years, because an estimated 35-thousand passengers would use the service.
Foley says the route will allow passengers to avoid Chicago's weather delays, by flying to Philadelphia instead. He says it also opens up new ways to get to U.S. cities on the eastern seaboard without traveling through New York City area airports, as well as open up more international options, including to travel to 19 European countries.
American Airlines' flight from the Des Moines International Airport to Philadelphia International will begin May 4th, 2018.
