The Iowa Department of Transportation is trying something new, Saturday morning, weather permitting.
Craig Bargfrede, from the DOT, tells WHO Radio News, about 50 workers will be along I-235 in Des Moines, picking up trash in their bright orange vests from 7:45 to 10am.
Again, it's as long as the weather cooperates.
Craig says this is the first time they've gotten all the groups to tackle a stretch of roadway like this.
He adds, about a third of the state's roads they're responsible for are cared for by volunteers from the Adopt-A-Highway program. That shakes out to about 1,250 groups.
