Thousands of elementary, middle and high school students took part in the Iowa Youth Straw Poll today (Wednesday).
Students were asked a number of questions, including should their city/town allow the use and sale of fireworks? 76-percent of the students said yes.
The straw poll also asked students to vote for their favorite subject, math came in first, followed by science, and social studies.
Students were also asked to rate their favorite state university, the University of Iowa won that contest.
Batman won the race for favorite superhero, over Wonder Woman and Spiderman.
The Secretary of State's annual straw poll is designed to inspire civic engagement, and give students an idea of how elections work.
