(Ames, Iowa) It won't be long before we see big orange trucks, spreading a salt-brine on the roads, before snow-storms.
Iowa Department of Transportation crews are actually spraying roads with water today (Monday), to test the equipment.
The DOT says the pavement temperature is still warm enough to spray water, without concern of creating icy spots. If it gets really cold, and the dew point is high enough for frost, they'll use the salt-brine.
