An Independence woman is facing a first-degree murder charge in the stabbing death of her ex-husband.
32-year-old Hillary Hunziker is in the Buchanan County Jail.
The County Sheriff said the murder happened around 4:30 a.m. Monday just northwest of Independence.
Their son called the county communications center and said "my mom just stabbed my dad."
A second call came in a short time later from Jason Hunziker who said, "my wife just stabbed me and took my child."
When deputies arrived, they found Hunziker dead in a bedroom.
They later found the mother with the child and her vehicle a short time later in Robins.
An autopsy on her ex-husband is scheduled.
