Iowa man charged in grandfather's stabbing death

(Rock Valley, Iowa)  A northwest Iowa man is charged with First Degree Murder,  accused of stabbing his grandfather, then setting his house on fire.

Authorities say 19-year old Santos Rodriguez Jr, lived with 84-year old Luis Luevanos of Rock Valley, (in Sioux County).   

Luevanos' house (at 1416 15th Street) caught fire shortly before 2:30 a.m. October 29th.  Fire fighters found the older man's body inside the home..    The Iowa State Fire Marshall's Office and the Rock Valley Police Department began an investigation.  The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was also contacted.

It was determined that Luevanos suffered multiple stab sounds, before the fire.

Investigators found the younger man in Utah, where he admitted to the crimes and was taken into custody November 8th.

Rodriguez is charged with First Degree Murder, and Arson, bond is set at one million dollars.  Rodriguez is awaiting extradition back to Iowa.
