Iowa DNR officer shoots, kills man who pointed gun

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says it's investigating the fatal shooting of a Humboldt man Sunday by an Iowa Department of Natural Resources enforcement officer.

Officers from the Iowa DNR and the Humboldt County Sheriff's office were called to a home in Dakota City Sunday around 2:30pm with the report of a wanted man hiding under the deck.

When officers arrived, 20 year old Shane Jensen fired a gun into the air, then turned the weapon on the officers. That's when an unidentified Iowa DNR officer shot and killed Jensen.

Family members reported that Jensen on Saturday told them he was going to commit "suicide by cop", forcing police to shoot and kill him.

No other information's been released.  The Iowa DCI says they'll release the findings of their report to the Humboldt County Attorney's office.
