A dog, shot with an arrow over the weekend in Jasper County is recovering after emergency surgery.

Andrew Worrell lives east of Kellogg, and found his collie, named Scooby, under his deck  with an arrow through his torso.

The dog was taken to the vet  for surgery.

Part of the dog's stomach and half a lung were removed.

Worrell's hoping the person responsible will come forward.

Jasper County Sheriff Chief Deputy Duane Rozendaal tells WHO Radio News it's considered an open investigation.  Deputies have contacted area land owners to see if anyone had given hunting permission. He says they have also reached out to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
