State denies all 3 Cedar Rapids casino plans

Members of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission have voted 3-1 to deny all three proposals for a casino in downtown Cedar Rapids.

Meeting at the Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque, the commission split on whether to allow one of the three proposals for a casino.  Commission member Kristine Kramer said she worried that the proposal would mean lost jobs in communities with existing casinos.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reported earlier this week that Commissioner Jeff Lamberti said there was no consensus on any of the proposals for Cedar Rapids.
