(West Des Moines, Iowa) Fire destroyed a detached garage near a busy street in West Des Moines this (Monday) afternoon. Crews were called to 5525 Ashworth Road at 12:30 p.m.
Crews arrived and found the garage on fire, and the homeowner, trying to help tackle it, as best he could with a garden hose.
Crews put out the fire quickly, but stayed around to watch for hot- spots, because of very strong winds.
Traffic in the 55-hundred block of Ashworth was blocked over the noon hour, while crews handled the fire.
