The Dallas County Sheriff's Office took a man and woman into custody after a chase at 8:15 p.m last night that started on Highway 44, in Dallas Center.
Deputies tried to pull over the driver of a 1992 Jeep Grand Cherokee for a routine traffic violation, but the driver took off leading the deputy on a short chase. The vehicle crashed in Dallas Center. Three people in the vehicle took off running. Deputies arrested 28-year-old Zachariah Schulte and 23-year-old Mickeala Johnson. Johnson has an outstanding arrest warrant an, was taken to a hospital first, then to Fort Des Moines. Schulte was taken to the hospital with injuries from the accident.
The search continues for the other passenger. Deputies found marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and prescription medication in the vehicle. Charges are pending.
