Thank you to each of you that voted for me in Des Moines' Most Likeable People Search! Thanks to you, I am a finalist! That gives me the opportunity to raise funds for my charity...The Heartland Chapter Scleroderma Foundation. Many of you probably have no idea what Scleroderma is...it is an autoimmune disease (no cure) that turns your skin hard and in the case of systemic scleroderma, attacks the internal organs as well...lungs, kidneys and digestive system. I have chosen this charity because my husband, Gene, was diagnosed four years ago with systemic scleroderma. He has not only dealt with this disease for four years, but had two different kinds of cancer in his digestive system last year. He had surgery with 6 months of chemo and than more surgery with 6 months of different chemo. We believe the reason he is still here is due to the many prayers that were offered up on his behalf. The Heartland Chapter Scleroderma Foundation helps people diagnosed with scleroderma in Iowa find doctors, helps with education and we help each other with little tips on how to deal with all the side effects of this disease. The event is Friday, December 8th, at 7PM at Decades Events Center at 1208 Grand Avenue in West Des Moines. The only way to vote (each vote is $1.00 to my charity) is to attend the event. Tickets are available by clicking here. If you cannot attend the event, but would like to give to my charity, you can go to www.scleroderma.org/heartland and click on the "Donate" button. Thank you!!!! Bonnie
