(Clive, Iowa) The Iowa State Patrol says a man struck by an SUV in Clive Monday night, has died of his injuries.
The Patrol says 53-year old Steven Rittel died this (Tuesday) morning at a Des Moines hospital. Authorities say Rittel walked into traffic into the 11-thousand block of Hickman Road shortly after 10 p.m. Monday.
A Ford Expedition, driven by Samuel Benjamin of Urbandale was eastbound on Hickman, and struck Rittel.
Officers arrived and found the Ford Expedition on its side, down an embankment. Neither Benjamin nor a passenger in the SUV were hurt.
