DES MOINES, IOWA - The State of Iowa is in the middle of the pack when it comes to population growth in the United States.
New estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau released Wednesday rank Iowa as the 26th fastest growing state in the nation over the past year, at a half-percent.
14,842 people moved into Iowa over the last year.
Idaho was the nation’s fastest-growing state, its population increased 2.2 percent; followed by Nevada and Utah.
Illinois is ranked last in the U.S. with population loss of three-tenths of a percent, nearly 34-thousand people less.
