West Des Moines Valley High School briefly evacuated

(West Des Moines, Iowa)    A sprinkler head froze this (Tuesday) morning at West Des Moines Valley High School, causing a release of water, tripping fire alarms, and prompting a brief school-wide evacuation.

District Spokesperson Laine Mendenhall-Buck tells WHO-Radio news the sprinkler head was located between two doors, one of which is an exterior door, in the southwest part of the high school, near a weight room.

She says the incident was isolated, and they were able to handle quickly.   Excess water drained to a nearby restroom, clean-up was quick, and there was no damage.
