(WAUKEE, IOWA)  Waukee officials and Des Moines-based Fridley Theatres today (Wednesday) have revealed plans for the Palms multi-plex theater between NE Westgate Drive and NE Dartmoor Drive, north of Hickman and west of Alice's Road in Waukee.

Russell Vannorsdel of Fridley Theatres tells WHO Radio News says the 66-thousand square foot facility will feature 15-theaters, including an 85-foot IMAX Laser GT auditorium, and a second large auditorium (75-foot wide and five-and-a-half story high), plus eight in-seat food and beverage auditoriums.   The theaters will have luxury recliners.

The complex will also feature laser projection, Dolby Atmos sound and reserved seating.  It will also have a full restaurant and bar, when it opens in November of this year.

Vannorsdel says they expect to hire around 70-employees to staff the facility.

Fridley owns and operates 20-theaters in Iowa and Nebraska and the Waukee project will be their largest facility.

Fridley's owner and founder, Bob Fridley, turned 100-years old last year, and has been in the movie industry since the 1930s.   Fridley Theatres was incorporated in the early 1970s.
