Iowa to get slight warm-up Sunday, light snow

(JOHNSTON, Iowa)   Sunshine to start off the weekend, but the cold temperatures will continue.

The National Weather Service in Johnston predicts highs Saturday in the single digits across the north to the teens in the south.  Sunday will be mild, with temperatures in the upper 20s, but light snow is possible, possibly an inch or less statewide.  Northeast Iowa may see two inches of snow by the end of the weekend.

Forecasters say once the snow begins to wrap up, a cold front will push through the state overnight Sunday and give way to more brutal cold, including wind chills approaching -40 degrees for some by Monday night.
