Des Moines man arrested, after crashing into train

(DES MOINES, Iowa)  A 21-year-old Des Moines man is in the Polk County Jail after police say he stole a car and hit a patrol car as he sped off, then hit a parked train on the city's east side.   

were called late Monday night to the 24-hundred block of East 21st Street.  When they arrived, they saw a person who appeared to be stripping parts off a vehicle.  The suspect drove off and hit the left rear of a Des Moines police patrol car, then drove off-road and crashed through a chain link fence before hitting a parked train in the 24-hundred block of Delaware.  

Police say the suspect tried to run away, but was taken into custody after a struggle.   Marek Kline was first taken to a Des Moines hospital for treatment of injuries he received in the crash, taken to the Polk County Jail.  

He faces two 2nd degree theft charges, reckless driving and an assaulting a police officer charge.
