Boone, Iowa woman charged in man's fatal stabbing

(BOONE, Iowa)     A Boone woman's in custody admitting to a fatal stabbing Tuesday night.   Boone Police Commander John Sloter tells WHO Radio News Mary Myers walked to the Boone County Law Enforcement Center, near her home shortly before 6 p.m. and told a deputy she stabbed 65-year-old Joe Wirth.  

Myers and Wirth lived together at 315 State Street. Police say Myers told them the stabbing happened during a fight.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation determined Myers willfully and deliberately stabbed Wirth multiple times.    Investigators say the stabbing happened Sunday, January 14th.

Fifty-nine-year-old Myers has been charged with First Degree Murder and is being held in the Boone County Jail, bond has been set at $1 million cash-only bond.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office is scheduled to do an autopsy on Wirth Thursday.
