Colfax man arrested after standoff

Police in Colfax had a standoff with a man who was reportedly drunk, armed, and threatened to hurt himself and others. 

It happened shortly after midnight Wednesday morning. The woman who'd called 911 was removed from the scene safely when police arrived.

After he didn't answer several attempts to contact him, around 3:47am police forced their way into the home.  He was eventually taken into custody.  Officer say he did have a weapon at the time.  The man's identified as 45 year old Kent Owens of Colfax.  

He's been charged with having a firearm while under a protected order for domestic abuse, interference with official acts, and violating a no contact order. 

He's in the Jasper County Jail in lieu of posting an $8,000 bond.
