(DES MOINES, Iowa) The Des Moines Blank Park Zoo has released the names of three African lion cubs. The names were chosen in an on-line vote.
Spokesman Ryan Bickel says names chosen for the female cubs are: Kali, which means fierce and sharp and Asha, which means life. The male will be known as Jabari which means the brave one.
The cubs were born November 14th, and weigh about 15-pounds each.
Bickel says the cubs are playful, but also feisty.
He says the vet now finds it a little more challenging to give the cubs their vaccinations, because they can be so feisty.
He says at some point in the next few months, the public will be able to see the lion cubs, but for now,, they can be viewed via closed circuit TV at the zoo.
