DECORAH, IIOWA — The Decorah Police Department freed a beaver from an ice jam Monday.

The department posted about the rescue on its Facebook page, including photos pf the rescue.

The beaver was pinned on the shore of the Upper Iowa River by ice chunks. It was frozen to one of the chunks of ice and the beaver's leg was trapped under another heavy chunk of ice.

Officers carefully cleared away the ice around the beaver and freed it from the ice.

The officers moved the beaver away from the river to give it a chance to rest because it was exhausted, reports WHO Channel 13.
