Toys-R-Us stores in Des Moines, Iowa closing

Two metro Des Moines Toys-R-Us stores are closing.   The retailer declared bankruptcy in September, and plans to close down as many as 182-stores across the country.

Local stores on the closure list include:    The Clive store on University Avenue and the Toys-R-Us at 1211 Army Post Road in Des Moines.

Toys-R-Us had built 16-hundred stores around the world, 880 of those are in the  United States.

The retailer has struggled in recent years, due to the rise in on-line shopping.

The retailer is among many bricks and mortar stores, planning to scale-back or close completely, during what business analysts have called the retail ice-age.
