FORT DODGE, Iowa - A Fort Dodge woman is accused of intentionally hitting a pedestrian with her car last weekend, seriously injuring a woman, and then leaving the scene of the accident.

"From the witness statements that we've gathered, they basically all said that once the victim was crossing the street, Ms. Cervene in her car accelerated right at the victim and slightly swerved towards her at the very end."  Fort Dodge Police Captain Ryan Gruenberg tells WHO Radio news.

27-year-old Leah Cervene is charged with Attempted Murder.

The victim, 34-year-old Sara Hoover was walking across Central Street early Saturday morning when she was hit by the car.

"The female victim is expected to make a full recovery from what we understand."  Gruenberg says.  "There are some pretty significant injuries, some fractured disks in her back."

Gruenberg says investigators believe the two women had a disagreement at a local bar earlier that night.
