MARION COUNTY, Iowa - Dateline NBC is featuring an Iowa who-done-it.
Jason Carter is charged with First Degree murder in his mother Shirley's death.
He was arrested two days after being found responsible for her death in a civil lawsuit brought by his own father.
Carter pleaded not guilty to the Murder this week, and also waived his right to a speedy trial.
Shirley Carter was found shot to death at the family’s home in Lacona, Iowa in 2015. Investigators say Jason provided incriminating information and inconsistent statements on the witness stand in the civil case in December.
